Online Clinical Ultrasound and Echocardiography (On-CUE)

SCA has collaborated with iTeachU to deliver the Online Clinical Ultrasound and Echocardiography (On-CUE) Levels 1 and 2 courses to physicians around the world. These comprehensive courses offer echocardiography (TEE and TTE) and other uses of clinical ultrasound including vascular access, lung ultrasound, ultrasound-guided regional anesthesia, FAST and DVT Assessment.

This online course provides a structured educational ultrasound program with self-assessments to reinforce the learning experience. Upon receipt of payment, the student will receive a “Getting Started” email with instructions on how to access the course materials.

Students have the flexibility to study in their own time and location. Program materials can be accessed through the iTeachU app on smartphones and tablets with iOS, Android or Windows systems. Once the program materials have been downloaded on smartphones and tablets, all the interactive media content can be viewed even when offline (however internet access is required periodically to login or re-verify login credentials).  Program materials can also be accessed online using a web browser.

Subjects

Each subject can be purchased individually. However, the subjects are designed to be completed in order. Please pay careful attention to the order of subjects when purchasing

Subject 1

Principles of Ultrasound and iHeartScan™

This subject will outline the physics related to medical ultrasound use; an introduction to transthoracic echocardiography using the focused assessment technique and iHeartScan™ (Hemodynamics Echocardiography Assessment in Real Time

Subject 2

Ultrasound Guided Procedures

This subject will outline the technique of using ultrasound to guide percutaneous procedures. Procedures will include vessel access, nerve blocks, and trauma related procedures. There will be an elective of either "Anesthesia" or "ICU."

Subject 3

Doppler Echocardiography

This subjuect will introduce Doppler echocardiography to complement basic transthoracic echocardiography imaging.

Subject 4

Ventricular Function

This subject will expand the knowledge of transthoracic echocardiography by learning pathophysiology and assessment of ventricular function, including diastolic function.

Subject 5

Advanced Anatomy and Doppler Analysis

This subject will provide additional advanced material on anatomy and Doppler analysis, which will not have been covered at the Certificate level.

Subject 6

Advanced Valve and Aortic Pathology

This subject will provide advanced knowledge of valvular and aortic pathology and echocardiography assessment.

Subject 7

Applications of Echocardiography

This subject will identify the role of ultrasound in specific clinical situations relevant to perioperative and critical care practice.

Subject 8

Advanced Echocardiography Interpretation

This subject will outline how to formally report diagnostic echocardiography studies, using a custom designed database reporting system. There will be 50 case studies to be reported.

Course Completion

Upon meeting the Assessment Components for each course level, a Completion Certificate will be sent from SCA and iTeachU. For individual subject enrollments a Statement of Activities can be generated from within the assessment portal.
