Comments: Fellowship approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). The 12-month program provides extensive experience in the management of a variety of complex cardiac and thoracic cases, complex aortic reconstruction, endovascular aortic graft repair, and ventricular assist device implantation. Fellows obtain advanced training in transesophageal echocardiography. Experience in the postoperative critical care of cardiac surgical patients is obtained during rotation in the ICU with instruction from our own faculty. Our program is designed to provide experience in all aspects of Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology as well as opportunities for clinical and basic science research. In addition to the outstanding clinical opportunities, Fellows are offered (not mandated) the opportunity to participate in clinical and translational research. Our Department has published numerous manuscripts, chapters, and abstracts. Didactic programs include weekly Fellow's conferences, weekly Morbidity and Mortality Conferences, and a monthly journal club. Clinical Responsibility: Clinical 80% / Non-clinical 20%
