Comments: The Fellowship in Adult Cardiothoracic Anesthesia is a 12-month fellowship designed to train an anesthesiologist in perioperative care and echocardiography of the patient with cardiovascular disease. Fellows will perform anesthesia for approximately 100 patients requiring cardiopulmonary bypass. Additional training includes a month in the Cardiac Surgical Intensive Care Unit and one month at the West Roxbury VA training in thoracic anesthesia. Fellows will also gain additional experience in pediatric cardiac anesthesia and providing care for patients presenting for electrophysiology studies and treatment and patients presenting for procedures in the catheterization suite. Our fellows are invited to attend the Harvard Perioperative Echocardiography Course in September free of change. Additionally, the MGH fellowship interacts with the other Boston based fellowships (MGH, BI, and Boston Children's Hospital) for scheduled conferences to share cases and ideas.
