Registration is now open for the inaugural Perioperative Ultrasound Course which will enhance your knowledge and ability in the rapidly expanding field of perioperative ultrasound.
The reverse classroom model enables participants to learn online through a course offered by iTeachU before attending a 1-day, hands-on workshop on May 21 in Atlanta, GA, in conjunction with the 2017 Echo Week.
This course offers the opportunity to learn basic ultrasound skills through
- online tutorials
- online case studies
- live hands-on training by more than a dozen ultrasound masters
- an online studies log book.
The online modules, tutorial, and case studies will cover
- Basic Transesophageal Echocardiography.
The hands-on workshops will include
- Transthoracic Echocardiography
- Gastric Ultrasound
- Lung Ultrasound
- DVT Evaluation
- Vascular Access.
Following these online and hands-on experiences, you will be prepared to bring your new skills back to your institution. Post-meeting, you will be able to use an online log book to document the supervised perioperative ultrasound studies that you perform.

Please do not insert images into the Word document because that results in reduction of quality. Any other assets, such as videos, must be provided as attachments or external links. Please use a byline that includes credentials, affiliations, and the city and state of those affiliations. SCA adheres to AMA style when possible, including citations and references.

- a paragraph at the end with your comments
- citation of the original article.

- an echo case scenario (maximum 300 words)
- a question with multiple-choice answers
- the answer and its explanation (maximum 300 words)

Share what you are doing or working on that is innovative or new in the cardiac anesthesia world. Send us a big-picture article about new ideas you have implemented and ways they are making an impact in your hospital and can make an impact in others. Content for the Innovation Corner should include
- a title
- an explanation of how the idea was implemented
- the results of its implementation
- any benefits to your department or hospital.
