Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) Sub-Committee Description & Roster
STRATEGIC PLAN GOAL: RESEARCH
SCA will be a global leader in comprehensive professional development that promotes the provision of safe, high quality, cost -effective medical care for patients undergoing cardiovascular and thoracic procedures.
MISSION
The mission of the sub-committee is to discuss topics and solutions related to Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) and provide evidence-based practice advisory for our members to promote the excellent perioperative care for patients undergoing cardiothoracic and vascular surgeries.
PURPOSE
The purpose of this sub-committee is to increase awareness in Cardiothoracic and vascular anesthesia/anesthesiologist as to the STS definition of acute kidney injury (AKI) and its prevalence; preoperative risk factors and possible modifiers of AKI; and potential pathways for the development of AKI, specifically in patients undergoing cardiac surgery.
PARENT COMMITTEE
The sub-committee reports to the Clinical Practice Improvement Committee.
MEETING
The sub-committee meets at least once per year.
COMPOSITION
The sub-committee is composed of the Chair, Parent Committee Chair, Board liaison, and members-at-large.
TERM
Members may serve a maximum of two consecutive terms unless presidential approval is granted for a third.
