Professional and Continuing Medical Education

SCA offers live and online educational opportunities that address critical topics in perioperative care for patients undergoing cardiothoracic and vascular procedures, from cardiovascular and pulmonary physiology and pathology, to hands-on echocardiography and ultrasound skills. These programs are designed to increase competence, clinical knowledge and practical application of evidence-based patient care strategies.

Member Benefit Packages 

SCA-Only | $225 per year

SCA-Only members receive access to all of our online resources, including the SCA Newsletter, E-Manual of Cardiac Anesthesia, and member directory. You’ll continue to receive discounted registration rates for our educational opportunities, as well as eligibility for Society-sponsored grants and awards and committee membership. Additionally, we’ll automatically report your earned CME credits to the ABA twice per year.

  • Diplomate of the American Board of Anesthesiology, or other international equivalent.
  • Possession of a degree of Doctor of Medicine, Bachelor of Medicine, or Doctor of Osteopathy, or other international equivalent.
  • Possession of a valid license to practice medicine.

Associate Membership
Eligibility Requirements

  • Completion of an anesthesia residency training program accredited by the ACGME or the American Osteopathic Association, or other international equivalent.
  • Possession of a degree of Doctor of Medicine, Bachelor of Medicine, or Doctor of Osteopathy, or other international equivalent.
  • Possession of a valid license to practice medicine.

Career Scientist Membership
Eligibility Requirements

  • Career Scientist actively involved in research relating to thoracic or cardiovascular anesthesiology, or related fields of medicine.
  • Possession of a Doctor of Philosophy Degree.

Fellow/Resident Membership

Fellow SCA-Only: $50/yr
Resident SCA-Only: $50/yr

Eligibility Requirements

 

  • Physician in an approved anesthesiology training program accredited by the ACGME or the American Osteopathic Association, or other international equivalent.
  • Possession of a degree of Doctor of Medicine, Bachelor of Medicine, or Doctor of Osteopathy, or other international equivalent.
  • Name of program director and start/end dates of program required.

Retired Membership

SCA-Only: Free

Eligibility Requirements

 

  •  Active, Associate, or Career Scientist member in good standing who has retired from active medical practice or research.
  • Members who are disabled, and therefore, unable to engage in the practice of his/her profession for one or more years.
  • Send your letter of application for Retired Status to info@scahq.org for review by the Member Engagement Committee Chair.
