ACUTE KIDNEY INJURY (AKI) WORKING GROUP DESCRIPTION & ROSTER
STRATEGIC PLAN GOAL: RESEARCH
SCA will be a global leader in comprehensive professional development that promotes the provision of safe, high quality, cost -effective medical care for patients undergoing cardiovascular and thoracic procedures.
The mission of the working group is to discuss topics and solutions related to Acute Kidney Injury.
The purpose of this working group is to increase awareness in cardiac anesthesiologists and intensivists of:
- The STS definition of acute kidney injury (AKI) and its prevalence.
- Preoperative risk factors and possible modifiers of AKI.
- Potential pathways for the development of AKI, specifically in patients undergoing cardiac surgery.
The working group reports to the Clinical Practice Improvement Sub-Committee.
The working group meets at least once per year.
The working group is composed of the Chair, Parent Sub-Committee (CPI) Chair, Parent Committee (QSL) Chair, and other Society members. A Board Liaison may be appointed at the discretion of the President.
Working group members serve for a term of two years.
