STRATEGIC PLAN GOAL
The SCA Economics and Governmental Affairs Sub-Committee will educate and advise the Board of Directors and membership on economics and governmental affair issues that influence cardiothoracic anesthesiology.

MISSION
To monitor state and national policy actions which may impact the Society’s interests and to ensure the interests and objects of the Society are represented.

PURPOSE
The purpose of the Economics and Governmental Affairs Sub-Committee is to address, advise, and educate the Board of Directors and membership on economic issues of importance to the field of cardiovascular anesthesiology.  The Committee’s scope encompasses short and long-term issues associated with utilization of and coverage for billing codes used in cardiovascular anesthesiology; to the potential economic impact of public policy decisions on cardiovascular anesthesiology practice; and promoting the value that cardio-thoracic anesthesiologists bring to the perioperative arena.

PARENT COMMITTEE
The committee reports to the Quality, Safety and Value (QSV) Committee.

MEETING
The sub-committee meets at least once per year.

COMPOSITION
The sub-committee is composed of the Chair, Vice-Chair, Parent Committee Chair, Board liaison, and members-at-large.

TERM
Members may serve a maximum of two consecutive terms unless presidential approval is granted for a third.
