Overall comments about your program:

Our program has established a robust didactic curriculum, which is revised and updated annually to best prepare our fellows for the Adult Cardiac Anesthesiology Certification Exam as well as the Advanced Perioperative Transesophageal Echocardiography Board Exam. Education time (approximately 4 hours per week) is protected and attendance is facilitated. Didactic Lectures:
Weekly multidisciplinary lectures covering topics relevant to the practice of ACTA, including the use of simulation and case-based discussions. Lectures are delivered by ACTA faculty as well as faculty members from other departments including cardiology and cardiothoracic surgery.

Journal Club:
Led by ACTA fellows, and moderated by Dr. Naralys Batista, monthly journal club allows for a review of current topics relevant to ACTA practice with a focus on evaluation of study design and results interpretation.

TEE Didactics:
Comprehensive curriculum designed to develop proficiency in perioperative echocardiographic image acquisition and interpretation, while preparing fellows for certification in advanced perioperative transesophageal echocardiography. Sessions are held weekly and are led primarily by Dr. Kurt HoSmeister, Director of Perioperative TEE.

TEE Case Review:
Weekly review of interesting TEE studies, led by ACTA fellows and moderated by ACTA faculty.

Other Institutional Offerings:
Anesthesiology Department Grand Rounds, Critical Care Grand Rounds, Combined Cardiothoracic Surgery/ACTA M&M Conference, Annual Pg Heart Dissection, Research Conferences
