Overall comments about your program: | Our program has established a robust didactic curriculum, which is revised and updated annually to best prepare our fellows for the Adult Cardiac Anesthesiology Certification Exam as well as the Advanced Perioperative Transesophageal Echocardiography Board Exam. Education time (approximately 4 hours per week) is protected and attendance is facilitated. Didactic Lectures: Weekly multidisciplinary lectures covering topics relevant to the practice of ACTA, including the use of simulation and case-based discussions. Lectures are delivered by ACTA faculty as well as faculty members from other departments (i.e. cardiology and cardiothoracic surgery). Journal Club: Led by ACTA fellows, and moderated by Dr. Aaron MiMel, monthly journal club allows for a review of current topics relevant to ACTA prac=ce with a focus on evaluation of study design and results interpretation. TEE Didactics: Comprehensive curriculum that prepares fellows for proficiency in perioperative TEE acquisition and interpretation, and prepares them for certification in advanced perioperative TEE. These sessions are held weekly and are predominantly led by Dr. Jack Shanewise and Dr. Kurt Hoffmeister. TEE Case Review: Weekly review of interesting TEE studies, led by ACTA fellows and moderated by ACTA faculty. Other Institutional Offerings: Anesthesiology Department Grand Rounds, Critical Care Grand Rounds, Combined Cardiothoracic Surgery/Anesthesiology/Critical Care Medicine M&M Conference, Annual Pig Heart Dissection, Research Conferences |
