UPMC’s Heart and Vascular Institute offers world-class training in adult cardiothoracic anesthesiology. In 2019, our division provided anesthesiology and perioperative care for over 2,000 open cardiac surgeries, 279 TAVRs, 78 non-TAVR structural heart procedures, 83 lung transplants, 52 durable ventricular assist devices and 34 adult heart transplants. We also support busy cardiac electrophysiology, adult thoracic and vascular/aortic surgery, and ECMO programs. The core fellowship site, UPMC Presbyterian Shadyside, is the #15 ranked hospital nationally by U.S. News & World Report and #1 in Pennsylvania. The University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine is #12 nationally in NIH research funding. |
