The SCA is offering the Cardiac Anesthesia in Practice Symposium (CAPS) again this year! For this virtual symposium, we aim to discuss emerging topics in cardiothoracic anesthesiology. We invite faculty within ten years of completion of training to submit a 500-word abstract about an emerging topic of cardiothoracic anesthesiology.
If selected, you will be invited to give a 20–25-minute presentation on your topic, which will then be followed by a 20–25-minute panel-led discussion. A few examples of topics include multimodal analgesia in cardiac surgery, aortic valve repair, heparin resistance, and emerging research in cardiac anesthesiology.
The deadline for submissions is Monday, October 19, 2026.
Applicants will be notified of the decision by Friday, November 13, 2026. The Cardiac Anesthesia in Practice Symposium (CAPS) will occur in the beginning of 2027.
